7 games that totally deserve the Pokémon GO treatment

Pokémon GO fever is swiftly spreading its way across the land, and I for one have major plans for loitering on street corners this weekend, eyeing up the gym that’s close to mine. But whilst Nintendo, Niantic and The Pokémon Company are laughing and watching their stock fly up, I’m left feeling bad for the other games that totally deserve the Pokémon GO treatment. So I gots to thinking and came up with these…

7 games that deserve Pokémon GOs of their own

1. Dark Souls GO

There would be no sensation quite like stumbling across the Capra Demon when out drinking with buddies. Add that to Dark Souls GO’s permadeath system, which makes the phone explode when you die in-game, and your life will instantly become that little bit more exciting.

2. Fatal Frame GO

This weekend, get lost in the creepiest, derelict house in your neighborhood with Fatal Frame GO. The only way to escape the horror is to trap the souls of malevolent spirits in your phone in order to charge the GPS, so you can venture back into the safety of the outdoors. The game requires a smartphone with a flashlight, but be careful… it drains battery pretty fast, so hunt quickly!

3. Grand Theft Auto GO

Combine with a GTA-branded fitness tracker and sprint around town attacking people at your leisure, collecting those sweet ducats from the pockets of the dead! Take pics of crime, share it with your friends! The most points are awarded to players operating vehicles whilst using smartphones to capture footage of mowing down pedestrians in a 4X4! And when I say ‘points’ I mean 'misdemeanors.’

4. Hatoful Boyfriend GO

There are pigeons everywhere, so why not flirt with them? Approach a pigeon with the app open and marvel as it randomly generates a personality for your new, feathered beau! Will you be flying high on the wings of love, or end up as disappointed as a dodo?

5. Mario Kart GO

Take to the freeways with your smartphone in hand and take on other drivers in the ultimate battle for vehicular supremacy! Using the app’s AR and the car’s bluetooth system, drive into power boxes, throw banana skins and watch your opponents spin out and cause totally realistic pile ups! Ignore the screams, watch out for blue shells and when you hear the sirens just keep on GOing!

6. Mirror’s Edge GO

Experience the city from angles never before seen by your eyes. Follow Faith as she guides you across the rooftops of the city in AR. Leap buildings*, wall run, spook birds and most of all try not to get shot by guards presiding over the roofs of government buildings. *The game contains a unique permadeath system where if you mistime a jump, there will be no 2nd try.

The most fun you can have doing absolutely F all! Watch as you phone plays Pokémon GO all by itself, roaming around the maps of your city and catching Pokémon.
